Communication is perhaps the most important element of workplace safety. This means communication and involvement between the employer and the employee in relation to workplace safety and health issues.
Why is Safety and Health important in the workplace?
Having effective job safety and health programs not only helps reduce worker injuries and illnesses, they save employers money in the long run too.
How many workplace accidents took place in 2019?
Private industry employers reported 2.8 million non-fatal workplace injuries and illnesses in 2019. That equates to 7671 injuries per DAY which, in turn, equates to 958 injuries per hour and 16 injuries a minute. If you, as a company, can ensure that your employees go home to their families at the end of the day, you are contributing significantly to reducing the injury rate. Convert that to production loss and your company has lost a lot of income.
Hazard vs Risk
Hazard: Anything that can cause harm.
Risk: How great the chance that someone will be harmed by the hazard.
Your health and safety file will contain amongst other items, organograms, appointment letters, registers, checklists, DSTI, toolbox talks, a summary of the OSH Act, medical records, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I have one file for all my projects?
The risks and tasks for each project are different; one needs to address all risks that have been identified on site. The file needs to be site-specific, Appointment letters can change as well.
How much notice do I need to give you to compile a health and safety file?
This is dependent on the information being submitted to The Safety Agent on time, but generally 3 days. Faster turnaround can also be arranged.
I do not live in KZN, can you compile a file for me?
Most certainly. We can and have compiled files for Johannesburg, as well as other outlying areas.
